Seven paintings like so many sinuosities to reinvest the world, re-enchant it, welcome it within oneself. Justine Ruchat takes us by the hand and guides us where the essential is hidden.
It may be that the world has become this straitjacket of slogans and images that isolates us. That thus alienated, we no longer pay attention to what is sensitive, beautiful, essential, even if sometimes tenuous. Justine Ruchat let herself slip into the meanders of a world brought back to life, delicate and dreamlike, in search of wonder. What takes place there, and involves the body as well as the mind, is not only a matter of tranquillity: risk plays its role, the incident remains possible, the heart beats to the rhythm of emotions and memories. The author drew from Italo Calvino's "American Lessons", which accompanied her, a taste for sediment, that of time regained and of the right measure. A train speeding by, the headlights of a car in the night, a flock of birds, a wolf in the distance... So many landmarks, sound or visual, to allow the gaze to regain its original acuity. So many ways, too, to re-establish contact, by taking the audience not as a witness but as a partner. A spectacle of reconciliation, "Méandres" is irrigated with images and words to capture the living in what is most intense and, therefore, most ephemeral. Immersing oneself in it is an act of resistance
