Members of Snapped Ankles emerge from the trees dressed in camouflage! But above all, they deliver relentless electro-hypnotic rock that hits hard without a moment’s pause, uniquely able to send the audience into a trance, urging them to dance wildly to express and release their frustrations. Noise, fury, an overcharged intensity in every moment, and soaring sonic flights that pin you to the wall—all mixed with elements of performance and art rock: that’s what Snapped Ankles bring.
With Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom, Meatbodies released in 2024 their album of resurrection, after five grueling years for the band and especially its leader, Chad Ubovich, who had to overcome numerous challenges: depression, drug addiction, COVID, hospitalization, and even the loss of his home. It took him five years to complete this record, which ultimately stands as the band’s most ambitious and varied work to date.
Meatbodies’ garage rock gains depth by drawing from multiple previously hinted influences like Britpop à la Pulp, the harmonic madness of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, and even cosmic country. The four friends manage to bring coherence and depth to this diversity, always with intensity and originality, notably thanks to impeccable songwriting
Obsessive collector of wild and rare records, Ogoun Ferraille, versatile and curious, skillfully handles vinyl from both hemispheres—as long as it’s psychedelic and fuzz-infused.
For this occasion, he’s prepared a garage and proto hard-rock set mixing the best tracks from MC5, Pentagram, as well as equally obscure but devastating bands!
