Performance from October 27 to 31 at the Comédie de Genève. Gabriel Sparti stages an amateur choir preparing for a major event under the direction of a new conductor.

After Heimweh / Mal du pays, Gabriel Sparti returns to Comédie de Genève with his second creation, once again exploring the violence simmering beneath the polished surface of contemporary society.
The choir of the small town of Ici eagerly awaits the arrival of its new, world-renowned musical director. But as she leads them through rehearsals for a major European event, introducing new songs into their repertoire, the singers gradually become trapped in an implacable mechanism, caught between the hope of shining before a vast audience for the first time and the ideology slowly seeping through the lyrics they are asked to perform.
Around a handful of characters gathered within this miniature version of society—an amateur music ensemble—unfolds a cruel fable, as funny as it is unsettling. Through subtle disruptions, layered meanings, and the growing ambiguity between the beauty of the vocal harmonies and the content they carry, Menace chorale lays bare the mechanisms, desires and forces that can draw both individuals and groups into authoritarian dynamics.
