Performance from May 11 to 20 at the Comédie de Genève. François Gremaud tells the story of his Deaf brother Christian through French Sign Language.

On stage, Christian Gremaud plays Christian. Standing at the centre of the stage, he recounts moments from his life, unfolding his thoughts, joys and sorrows. He expresses himself in his own language, French Sign Language, interpreted at the edge of the stage by his brother François Gremaud. Because Christian is deaf.
In Aller sans savoir où, presented at Comédie de Genève in 2024, François Gremaud had already spoken about his brother and the influence their shared learning of sign language had on both his thinking and artistic practice. Having long dreamed of it, the director now dedicates an entire performance to this figure he regards with admiration and love. Through a performance placing the physical vibration and expressivity of sign language at the very centre of the stage, he intertwines Christian’s intimate story with the collective history of deaf people, their culture as well as their struggles.
