MONCEF GENOUD - SOLO JAZZ PIANO - IMMERSIVE CONCERT EXPERIENCE
On Thursday, May 23, Moncef Genoud will be giving an exceptional solo jazz piano concert, making the most of the immersive acoustic technology developed in the Auditorium Ansermet.
Moncef Genoud is one of Switzerland's leading jazz musicians. Blind at birth, he has developed a unique gift for music. A professional musician since 1983, he has played with the likes of Bob Berg, Alvin Queen, Reggie Johnson, Michael Brecker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bill Stewart, Idris Muhammad, Jack DeJohnette, Scott Colley, and Grégoire Maret, among many others.
The 1990’s saw him tour all of Europe as well as India, Australia, Africa, Japan, the United States, and Canada as a headliner (Vancouver and Montreal Jazz Festivals 1994). In 1995, he performed in Africa, where he and Youssou N’Dour became close friends. The two have since played together on numerous occasions, developing a new African-Jazz sound. Since then, Moncef has continued to grow and build his own catalogue, recording with formations ranging from the duet to the sextet, to even the symphonic orchestra.
On Thursday, May 23, he will be giving a solo performance, playing his own compositions as well as rearranged jazz standards. He will be making the most of the immersive acoustic technology recently developed in the Auditorium Ansermet.
