NASHWA + ANOUAR BAOUNA + DJ YASMINE
Maghreb bass fusion
The name Nashwa has its origins in the Arabic language and literally means "euphoria," "ecstasy," or "trance." It is an expression that evokes a state of intense joy and bliss, often associated with transcendental experiences or moments of profound pleasure.
It is in this context that singer-songwriter Ghizlane Melih and producer Alix Pilot combine their worlds to create organic and global Bass music. A perfect fusion of modernity and tradition. Their artistic influences are multiple and eclectic. Through Ghizlane's lyricism; we discover a tribute to great Arab divas such as Oum Kalthoum, Ismahane, Fayrouz or Naima Samih. Ghizlane is also inspired by traditional Moroccan women's songs (folklore linked to family reunions, weddings or other festivities). Indeed, we find in their compositions, references linked to different Moroccan folklore such as dakka marrakchia, Aïta or Gnawa.
Their artistic direction consists of sublimating these folklores, reviving the memories of some and initiating neophytes to merge them. Nashwa's musical alchemy also reveals a strong influence of Anglo-Saxon electronic music, from Trip Hop to Dubstep (Massive Attack, Mala, Asian Dub Foundation...) as well as by the current Arab Electro scene (Ammar 808, Nuri, Acid Arab...). We also find some sounds from hip-hop and urban culture.
The meeting point is dance, trance. A timeless space where rave culture meets tradition. Nashwa merges past and future, breaks down boundaries, and reconciles opposites.
Their first album will be released in fall 2025.
