Concert by Nebbia, Downes, and Lisle: “Exhaust” et 9 p.m. at the AMR

The improvisational trio Exhaust offers a dynamic encounter with spontaneous creation. Their music unfolds through real-time exploration, where quick reflexes and attentive listening shape each performance. Nebbia’s powerful saxophone voice animates the ensemble with intensity, while Downes reveals a facet of his playing that leans toward raw immediacy and unrestrained expression. Lisle acts as both a catalyst and an anchor, creating fluid rhythmic structures that support and propel the trio’s complex interplay. Their album explores a vast sonic spectrum, oscillating between melodic counterpoint and richly textured soundscapes, embracing contrast and constant transformation.
Their debut album, “Exhaust,” was released in May 2025 on the New York-based label “Relative Pitch,” following a European tour of festivals and venues such as the Berlin Jazz Festival, the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, Cafe Oto in London, and Jazz Jantar in Gdansk.
