Outrenoir
François Veyrunes follows an atypical path in the landscape of contemporary French dance, through his reflections on the social role of the human being in society.

Duration: 1h05
With Outrenoir, François Veyrunes poses the question of the human being's capacity to assume their responsibilities as a social animal, both on an individual and collective level. The balance of the body and the mastery of gravity, through virtuosic choreographic figures, solo and then group performances, symbolize this exploration: diving arabesques, grand splits in pas de deux, stretched bodies rising again...
François Veyrunes borrows his title from Pierre Soulages, paying homage to the artist who dedicated his work to revealing the light within darkness, concepts that seem so contradictory. The piece also plays on contrasts: between solos and ensembles, between the slowness of adagios and the energy of a breakdance interlude, between the dimness of the stage and the light occasionally focused on a dancer, between the body's pull towards the ground while the leg stretches towards the sky. The hypnotic music envelops the whole with a dark tension.
A piece worth discovering.
