PAUL VAN KEMENADE & STEVKO BUSCH

Paul Van Kemenade, one of the most experienced Dutch saxophonists with one of the most poignant alto sounds, presents a dialogue with pianist Stevko Busch, who developed his individual style after working with the great Misha Mengelberg. Their project is influenced and nourished by South African music and ancient Russian melodies. It exudes an atmosphere of quiet, spiritual contemplation, often tinged with elements of the blues. There are lilting pieces, strong in their simplicity, but also dynamic rhythms and brilliantly intense improvisations.
