La Bâtie is thrilled to welcome Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John to the Usine à Gaz in Nyon, as part of their tour celebrating the revival of their iconic album Writer’s Block. Back in the mid-2000s, this record quickly became a landmark of melodic indie pop, driven by the single Young Folks — a track everyone has heard at least once, if not hummed along to. It featured in Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother, was rapped over by Kanye West, and even had another track sampled by Drake. In short, Peter Bjorn and John clearly stood out in Sweden’s buzzing alternative scene of the time, alongside bands like The Hives, I’m from Barcelona, Mando Diao, and Junip.
Tonight, let’s not hold back our joy — here’s a rare opportunity to dive back into an album that left a lasting mark on pop music by freeing it from polished perfection without losing its charm. And it won’t stop there: the trio will also revisit other timeless gems from their rich discography. Peter Bjorn and John have mastered the rare art of fusing irresistible melodies with subtly gritty, impeccably crafted instrumentation.
Opening the evening is the release show for Luftpost, the first fully self-produced EP by the duo Wolfberg, composed of Perrine Berger (guitarist with Adieu Gary Cooper) and sound artist Nicolas Wolf.
These two creative conspirators have joined forces to stage an act of musical resistance against the capitalist machinery of social media, championing values like authenticity and unity. Their pop music fuses radio snippets, metallic clatter, inspired synths, and electric guitars — reclaiming a sense of urgency and giving it back the space it deserves.
