Play by Souhaib Ayoub: “Les rêves qui dévorent la rivière”

On September 20, 2024 in Geneva, Souhaib Ayoub unveils "Les rêves qui dévorent la rivière”, a piece born from a residency at the House of Childhood and Adolescence, exploring dreams and death.

THE DREAMS THAT DEVOUR THE RIVER

Play by Souhaib Ayoub
Souhaib Ayoub, Lebanese novelist, performer and artist, remained in residence at the House of Childhood and Adolescence (MEA) for the last two weeks of March. The poet immersed himself in the places and atmosphere of the neighborhood to write his theatrical production.
Entitled “The dreams that devour the river”, this piece is the fruit of his residence, his creation of links with the neighborhood, his immersion in the city and the meeting of the inhabitants and their stories.
This poetic and introspective work explores the soul through the themes of dreams and death. On stage, two women exchange a dialogue mixing poetry and story. They venture into forgotten territories of their subconscious, where memories and dreams, love and death meet. Using dialogues and fragments of written notebooks, they immerse themselves in deep reflection on their existence, their past and the emotions that inhabit them.
Through poetic exchanges, the two women examine the fragility of life and memories, while seeking to give meaning to their dreams and aspirations.
A production of the Convergences Foundation and Souhaib Ayoub, in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Geneva.
