Porcile
by Pier Paolo Pasolini
L'atelier-théâtre italien Il Ghiribizzo présente "Porcile" de Pier Paolo Pasolini du 25 au 28 avril en salle MS180 à Uni Mail
Porcile is the title of a play written by Pier Paolo Pasolini in 1965, but also of the film adaptation he made four years later, with the addition of another story, that of an enigmatic cannibal. Our show is inspired by both versions, bringing together wealthy German industrialists still haunted by their Nazi past and peasants deeply rooted in their ancestral culture.
While the former Nazi Herdhitze, thanks to plastic surgery, goes from crimes against humanity to industrial success with impunity, young Julian lives as if suspended between salvation and damnation: fascinated by pigs, he refuses both to obey and to disobey his father, Herdhitze's unlucky competitor. In the eyes of the poet-filmmaker, this non-choice, culminating in a kind of "mystical" suicide, illustrates the tragedy of a society that devours its own children. A society that has given birth to both the cult of Reason and the Nazi plague.
