POSTALE VERSO / CASA MOONRISE
What is behind the story we publish or the postcard we send? What are the words, images and silences that populate psychological domestic violence?
What is hidden behind the story we publish or the postcard we send? What are the words, images and silences that populate psychological domestic violence?
Between art and activism, the photographic exhibition POSTALE / VERSO designed by Geneva filmmaker Laura Cazador (CH), in collaboration with photographer Anaïs Durmort (FR) and the artistic collective Casa Moonrise, questions the gap between external appearance and internal/intimate realities. Its objective? To expose the often invisible and diverse nature of psychological violence in couples.
Based on interviews with “survivors” of domestic violence whose anonymity is preserved, twelve pieces stage, on the front, a silver photograph with actors interpreting the life story, and, on the back, an extract from this testimony in the form of text. Very varied situations and characters are interpreted, from private spaces to public places.
Each photo works individually and in series, presenting a facet of psychological violence in the couple: insults, humiliation, intimidation, threats, (cyber)control… but also an escape, a trigger, whether in the gaze of the woman or of the one who observes her.
POSTALE / VERSO seeks to highlight the complexity of psychological violence in the couple and promote an open dialogue on this delicate subject, based on an artistic gesture.
The exhibition will be held at the Maison Rousseau et Littérature from November 19 to 24, 2024.
With the support of the Agenda 21 Service – Sustainable City of the City of Geneva as part of the “Objectif zéro sexisme dans ma ville” campaign and the Office for the promotion of equality and prevention of violence (BPEV).
In collaboration with the Maison Rousseau et Littérature (MRL).
