Baran, a war veteran turned policeman in a remote Kurdish village, and Govend, a courageous schoolteacher. Together, they fight for justice and emancipation in a hostile environment.

My Sweet Pepper Land tells the story of Baran, a Kurdish veteran who becomes a police chief in a remote valley on the border with Iraq, where he fights against local corruption. His meeting with Govend, a courageous schoolteacher who defies tradition, highlights the fight for justice and freedom in a region marked by oppression and patriarchy. The discussion following the film explores themes of authority, women's rights and social change in traditional societies, in the presence of Shilan Turgut, Kurdish feminist activist, and Nazile Afkhami, intercultural mediator and activist for Kurdish rights and women.
The event is organized by IAMANEH Switzerland. We work to improve access to care, protect against gender-based violence and strengthen the empowerment of women and families. Our festival 'Femmes', in its third edition, aims to raise public awareness of issues linked to gender equality and the fight against violence against women, through films, discussions and testimonies.
The event is organized with the support of the Office for the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Violence (BPEV) of the Canton of Geneva, as part of the November 25 Campaign - Geneva
