Lyrical Prose
This recital showcases the favorite melodies of the famous Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten, including a rarely performed Debussy masterpiece, the superb cycle of Proses Lyriques.
We are delighted to welcome back for the second time the renowned Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten, currently at the height of her career. Equally at home in opera and in concert under the direction of the greatest conductors, singing with equal ease the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and modern repertoires, Lenneke also devotes considerable time to recital. She has recorded numerous CDs of lieder and songs with her favorite partner, Thom Janssen. In 2023, her work was recognized with the Elly Ameling Prize, of which the renowned German bass Robert Holl was previously the only recipient.
This recital will be an opportunity to hear some of the soprano's favorite songs: in the first half, a selection of lieder by Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, and Strauss; then a rarely performed masterpiece by Debussy, the superb cycle of Proses Lyriques. Three melodies by Duparc and the virtuoso Trois Poèmes de Louise de Vilmorin by Poulenc will close the evening.
