RAJERY «Mozika Miaina», Live Music from Madagascar
To celebrate his 40 years on stage, RAJERY, nicknamed the "prince of Malagasy valiha", will be giving an intimate concert at the Villa Dutoit, Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
Author, composer, percussionist, and singer, Rajery is a rare man and an exceptional musician. Through sheer determination, he has succeeded in becoming one of the virtuosos of the valiha, the tubular bamboo harp emblematic of Madagascar, whose notes alternately evoke the harp, the harpsichord, the kora, and the sanza.
In 2002, the man now nicknamed the "Prince of the Valiha" received the RFI World Music Prize. He has released no fewer than seven albums and collaborated with artists from all walks of life.
Uncluttered, melancholic, tender, intense, and extremely poetic, Rajery's music, while deeply rooted in the land of Madagascar, also knows how to move away from it to reach for the universal. A talented performer, Rajery never ceases to express his hopes in the "power of music" and his desire to share what it has given him.
