Rendez-vous with Art Brut

Curator of the “Voir l'invisible” exhibition, Lucienne Peiry will shine the spotlight on three Art Brut creators she met personally: Ni Tanjung in Bali, Guo Fengyi in Xi'an, China, and August Walla in Gugging, near Vienna. She will share these troubling exchanges with the public, and comment on some of the productions of these dissident authors.
She will also discuss the evolution of Art Brut's place in some recent international cultural events, and address some of the reasons why these works have been so popular since the early 2000s.

Lucienne Peiry, an art historian, was director of the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne from 2001 to 2011. In this context, she discovered several Art Brut creators who have enriched the Lausanne museum. Lucienne Peiry wrote her doctoral thesis on the history of Art Brut and this collection. This is her 45th exhibition at the MIR.
