Christian Tetzlaff brings both intelligence and sensitivity to the stage, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to our concerts. Not only does he interpret pieces brilliantly, he also has a knack for infusing his own unique perspective into works. For instance, his recording of Beethoven’s Violin Concert in D Major delivers a spirited, quivering, and deeply personal take on this classic. It will be fascinating to compare two different renditions of Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony – one with the chamber-like finesse of the OCL and the other, a more symphonic interpretation by the OSR, under Daniele Gatti, who openly leans towards Beethoven’s softer, more compassionate side. This sentiment was evident in 2023 when he conducted the “Pastoral” Symphony. The Italian maestro has also treated audiences to the complete Beethoven cycle in concert multiple times.
