Film Screening and Discussion: You Never Know One Day You Too Might Become A Refugee
What if you were forced to leave your home because of a climate disaster, with no idea if you could ever return? Join our film screening and discussion on 30 June, 6pm, Geneva Graduate Institute.
Set in 2049, the film portrays a family’s displacement from a fictional island in Europe to a refugee detention center. The story of the family’s displacement is told by the protagonist to an official throughout a resettlement interview, which will determine whether the family will be accepted into a progressive climate displacement resettlement scheme in an unknown country in the Global South.
Following the screening, engage in discussion with the filmmakers, experts from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), moderated by Prof. Walter Kaelin, Envoy of the Chair of the Platform on Disaster Displacement. The evening will continue with snacks, drinks and networking!
Let’s explore how art can inspire imaginative solutions and creative thinking for human-centered policy responses to disaster displacement and climate change.
This event is organized by the Platform on Disaster Displacement, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
