Yann Tambour, aka Stranded Horse, draws inspiration from his collaborations and travels.
He began playing electronic music under the name Encre in 2000, before returning to his first love, acoustic music, a few years later.
Under the name Stranded Horse, he took up the classical guitar he had played throughout his childhood and adolescence, and discovered the kora, the Manding harp played by the Griots of West Africa.
As a solo artist, he released a single and two albums, collaborated with Ballaké Cissokho and Carla Palone, half of the Mansfield Tya duo, and performed on several hundred occasions on 5 continents.
Blending French chanson, Mandingo music and Anglo-Saxon folk, Stranded Horse, the band formed by ‘local boy’ Yann Tambour, has long stood out for its personal approach to the kora.
After working extensively with African musicians, he is now turning his attention to Creole music.
The harmony is immediately apparent, as if the Mandingue harp-lute and the percussion instruments of Reunion Island have always rubbed shoulders.
Musical marriages, melodic cross-fertilisations, intuitive mixes, Yann Tambour's project is a gentle, voluptuous folk gem.
