The Pilgrimage of the Rose – The Geneva Chamber Orchestra

Live illustrated concert

Illustration d'Emma Bertin

It is a charming tale that Robert Schumann set to music a few years before his death.
Once upon a time, there was a lovely rose with a secret dream: to become someone else, to become a young girl. Thanks to the Queen of the Elves, her wish is granted, and on her journey, she encounters a gravedigger, some millers, and Max…
Told through music by a mixed choir, a children’s choir, and a few soloists in its orchestral version, this story is brought to life with images created live by illustrator Emma Bertin, highlighting the light and nature contained in the libretto.
A moment of poetry and elevation to enjoy with the whole family!
"Schumann has no equal in distilling the elixir of childhood. His language, the immense tenderness of his gesture, a romanticism so imbued with literature and a fully engaged humanism, show how much the being, the individual, can offer of their emotion, particularly through the language of harmony." — Raphaël Merlin
