Theater : "4211 km"
By the Company Nouveau Jour
As part of the Plan-les-Ouates Cultural Season 2025-2026.
"I realize how universal and current our history is. There will always be men and women who experience wars, revolutions, natural disasters, etc. There will therefore always be a Yalda somewhere, who will have to find her own path." Aïla Navidi
4,211 km is the distance between Paris and Tehran, the distance traveled by Mina and Fereydoun, who came to France to seek refuge after a revolution stolen from them. Yalda, their daughter born in Paris, tells us about their life in exile, their fight for freedom, their love of a country, and the hope of returning. She takes us between her two worlds: her family and the outside world in which she desperately seeks her place. How can she successfully integrate without denying her origins when she is politely offered to change her first name upon naturalization? The question of identity is at the heart of this story. Yalda opens up about the weight of the past, her sense of duty to remember, her anger, her anxieties, and this overwhelming desire to go to Iran.
This story bears witness to the lives of thousands of Iranians who fled after a revolution that became the Islamic Revolution. It reminds us of the importance of our democracies and raises questions. What would we do if our country fell into the hands of extremists? What would become of us if we had to go into exile?
