“Flora Incognita” reveals the delicacy and complexity of flowers through captivating photographs created using scanography, a technique that allows for remarkable precision. The images, showing signs of decomposition, evoke the fragility and transience of life, reminiscent of the “vanitas” paintings of 17th-century Flemish art.
Born in Canada and currently living in Geneva, Katharina von Flotow is a renowned photographer and filmmaker. Founder of the Black Movie Festival, she directed the festival for 10 years before moving into international documentary production. Since 2019, she has focused on photography, developing portrait series of plant species.
