Perch is an absolute must on the Geneva gastronomic scene. Served with chips, salad or rice, or cooked “à la meunière”, you’ll simply have to sample perch fillets during your stay in Geneva. Here’s a selection of the best places in the Canton to enjoy this gorgeous dish.

Restaurant du Creux-de-Genthod

Open every day from 12:00 onwards, the restaurant has become an institution for locals looking for regional specialities and a great view. Just a few minutes from the centre of Geneva, settle in on the charming terrace by the harbour facing Lake Geneva and enjoy the famous “tradition meunière” perch fillets.

La Belotte

In Cologny, enjoy a timeless lunch or dinner by the water. La Belotte will delight you with its fish menu, in particular its “à la minute” perch fillets, lightly pan-fried and accompanied by a duo of homemade sauces, chips and vegetables. A real haven of peace for foodies right on the jetty.

Le Reposoir

With its beach and idyllic surroundings, located in Chambésy on the right bank of Lake Geneva, Le Reposoir offers an exceptional view of Mont Blanc. The spotlight is on local produce, and more particularly the perch fillets, served with meunière, lemon cream, Provençal or even ginger and lime sauce, accompanied of course by chips and salad.

Restaurant du Quai

In Hermance (accessible by bus or car), on the left bank of the lake, Restaurant du Quai is truly charming, both inside and out. Awarded a 14/20 by Gault&Millau Suisse, as well as a Bib Gourmand (Michelin Guide), chef Jérôme Manifacier delights his guests with dishes that marvellously combine tradition with modernity, often offering exotic reinterpretations. Fresh perch from the lake is obviously one of the restaurant’s specialities, to be enjoyed on the water’s edge in the summer.

L’Auberge d’Hermance

A magnificent 19th century manor house awaits you in a lush and exotic setting in Hermance, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The charming residence boasts an intimate atmosphere and is dedicated to the pleasures of the senses, thanks in particular to the menu created by chef Nicolas Chidyvar. The “meunière” perch fillets, exclusively from Lake Geneva, served with ratatouille and pommes allumettes, are a must for any foodie!

La Pointe à la Bise

When the sun is shining, head for Vésenaz and La Pointe à la Bise, just a few minutes from Geneva. The menu features fresh and summery dishes, such as Salade du Léman, Lake Geneva perch fillets with lemon butter, or Meinier saffron sauce. The best part? The perch are caught each morning by Vésenaz fisherman, Jean-Marc Barbaglia.

La Terrasse du Parc

In the heart of the gorgeous Parc des Eaux-Vives, overlooking the lake with majesty and elegance, La Terrasse du Parc offers exceptional views in a unique and enchanting setting. Located within the Hotel du Parc des Eaux-Vives, it brilliantly enhances local produce and offers its guests signature dishes: perch fillets accompanied by chips, salad and tartar sauce.

Café du Soleil

In the charming village of Corsier, discover this iconic local institution. Café du Soleil is one of the oldest establishments in the Canton. Two specialities have made its reputation: fondue and perch fillets. Served on a platter or on a plate, the latter come from Lake Geneva and are sure to delight young and old alike. The plus? The menu features other local specialities, such as Féra fillets or venison in the winter. 

Le Petit Lac

On the jetty in Corsier, admire one of the most beautiful sunsets and enjoy the restaurant’s specialities while sipping a glass of rosé. Le Petit Lac offers wild perch fillets, mainly from Lake Geneva, in small or large portions, with chips and green salad, Petit Lac sauce, citrus fruit sauce or meunière.  

Restaurant de la Plage

In the heart of Geneva, on one of the city’s most beautiful panoramic terraces, perch is served as a salad. Restaurant de la Plage, inaugurated in 2021, on the brand-new Plage des Eaux-Vives, offers Perches de Loë du Valais, accompanied by a salad of spinach shoots, candied tomatoes and pine nuts.  The best part? The idyllic views of the entire harbour of course!

Les Armures

This charming and timeless boutique hotel has welcomed many great names. Georges Clooney, Pelé, Georges Lucas and Bill Clinton have all stayed at the flagship establishment in the Old Town. Its restaurant is no less a standard-bearer of Swiss gastronomy, with the emphasis on traditional recipes sublimating local produce in an authentic Alpine chalet atmosphere. The menu features perch fillets from Lake Geneva, served with lemon butter or lemon thyme and fleur de sel, rapeseed oil from Geneva producer Christophe Bosson and spinach salad with parsley potatoes.
