Botanical Walk in Parc des Bastions: History, Trees, and Heritage in the Heart of Geneva

On June 5, 2025, embark on a guided botanical walk through Parc des Bastions. Discover the rich history of this iconic location and its remarkable collection of trees.

Arbre dans le parc des Bastions

The Geneva Section of the Touring Club Switzerland invites you to a guided walk through Parc des Bastions, an emblematic site in the city center. Established in 1720, this historic garden is the oldest public park in Geneva.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, explore the park's past and its dendrological collection with Roger Beer, a forestry engineer and president of the Swiss Dendrology Society. He will provide insights into some of the park's remarkable tree species, highlighting its origins as the botanical garden founded by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in 1817.

The tour will be complemented by a heritage guide's commentary on the site's history, its design, and its role as a public promenade. The event will conclude with a complimentary aperitif shared under the trees.

This activity is open to all individuals interested in living heritage and urban nature. Advance registration is required.
