By adapting his show “Vielleicht” for audiences aged 11 to 19, Cédric Djedje continues his quest to confront the ghosts of colonization in the urban landscape with “C’est beaucoup de petits poissons qui ont réussi à trouer le filet du pêcheur”. This field investigation explores the gray areas of history and the subjectivity of its retelling in the form of a docu-fiction performance. Through storytelling, dance, filmed sequences, and graphic videos, we are immersed in the heart of the “Afrikanisches Viertel”—a working-class neighborhood in Berlin home to a large African community. Yet twenty-five street names there refer to Germany’s colonial past. Isn’t it obscene to name the streets inhabited by the descendants of colonized peoples after the oppressors of their ancestors?
