Temporary exhibition
The exhibition 女 Chinese Women follows the lives of women through Chinese culture, from their representation in ceramics, painting, and photography, to the symbolic motifs associated with them in the decorative arts, as well as their clothing and distinctive accessories. Marriage, marital harmony, and the desire for numerous male offspring have given rise to a rich iconographic repertoire that the exhibition aims to explore through the presentation of a splendid carved wooden wedding bed, a variety of textiles, as well as narrative scenes painted on porcelain.
