CinéTransat is more than just a traditional open-air movie experience: it is a deeply human event that offers the public a festive and relaxed gathering in the heart of the city and in public spaces.
People come alone or in groups, bring a picnic, and settle down on the grass or in a deck chair. They participate in games, dress up, and interact with movie sets. As night falls and before the film begins, the entire crowd gathers to sing and dance, then reacts to the film by whistling, singing, or clapping.
With a diverse lineup of over 50 films and short films throughout the summer, CinéTransat offers cult classics and mainstream features, as well as films that introduce audiences to a variety of styles and origins, with the aim of bringing together as many people as possible.
The event fulfills the social and cultural goals of the CinéTransat association: to enliven Geneva during the summer, to offer free access to the magic of cinema for everyone, and to create a collective, human experience that respects the environment. CinéTransat brings together a wide audience, from regulars to passing tourists. CinéTransat unites Geneva’s neighborhoods, communities, and generations.
