Becoming a Planetary Gardener. The Precedence of the Living

From 16.04 to 08.06.25, the Pavillon Sicli Foundation will host the exhibition "Becoming a Planetary Gardener: The Precedence of the Living."

The exhibition explores how we can rethink our relationship with the living world and take action in response to climate and ecological challenges.

"Becoming a Planetary Gardener: The Precedence of the Living" invites us to see humans as living beings composed of other living entities, evolving within complex communities. In the context of the climate and ecological emergency, it offers a fundamental reflection on the evolution of landscapes, weaving together questions, perspectives, and local initiatives in response to contemporary challenges.

Through various viewpoints, the exhibition highlights the diversity of relationships with the living world and the richness of ecosystems coexisting on a planet in delicate balance. Beyond what nature provides us, it emphasizes the actions needed to preserve it, encouraging the public to actively engage in protecting life.

Designed by landscape architects Gilles Clément and Coloco, in collaboration with the Lullier Vocational Training Center for Nature and Environment, HEPIA, and the Topos association, the exhibition is adapted and produced in Geneva by the Pavillon Sicli Foundation. It creates connections between the built environment, urban renaturation—particularly within the PAV district—decision-making processes, and the role of humans within their ecosystems.

Throughout the exhibition, conferences, debates, and participatory workshops will deepen the explored themes, engaging both the general public and professionals. A broad mediation program, including school initiatives, will ensure accessibility for families and younger generations.

With this project, the Pavillon Sicli Foundation places landscape and the living world at the heart of the PAV, a former industrial site undergoing transformation.
