As a special addition to the usual series, this lecture will focus on the pivotal year of 1958, which saw the emergence of jazz musicians who would go on to dominate the recording scene in the early 1960s: Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry, Charles Mingus, Chico Hamilton with Eric Dolphy, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, and Herbie Nichols. It will be followed by a set by DJ Mitch.
