When popular uprisings resurface from history

There have always been revolts. In every era. Even in the most remote places. Even in Switzerland. Did you know that in 1761, in Chancy, a peasant riot broke out against the town prosecutors? That in 1907, in Yverdon-les-Bains, the cigar makers organized a strike, then a boycott, before founding their own cooperative? And that in 1974, the workers at the Burger & Jacobi piano factory rebelled against their bosses?
Combining rod puppets, archival footage, and live music, the new TMG production brings to life, with panache, little-known episodes of French-speaking Swiss social history. Born from an initial short piece presented at Cabaret en chantier 2024, this lively and impactful triptych revitalizes political puppetry, while instilling hope and momentum in those seeking to transform the present.
