Fragments of Humanity – Three Human Stories

The photographic work of Stéphane Lanoux explores the many ways in which human beings come together, share, and celebrate their existence.

For several years, the artist has traveled across diverse cultural and social landscapes in search of moments when a community reveals itself: collective rituals, popular celebrations, spontaneous encounters, or everyday life scenes.

In Fragments of Humanity, these images are brought together in the form of three monumental photographic works: HOME, LIVE#, and LOVE.

Each of these works is constructed as a mosaic made up of hundreds of individual photographs. From a distance, the compositions reveal simple, universal words. As one moves closer, they unfold into a multitude of visual fragments that bear witness to the diversity of human experiences.

This visual structure creates a dual reading: the overall image acts as a symbol, while the individual photographs reveal the singular stories that compose it.

The work thus exists at the intersection of documentary photography and artistic composition. The images, captured in varied cultural contexts, become elements of a collective narrative in which each fragment contributes to building a broader portrait of our shared humanity.

By bringing these fragments together, Stéphane Lanoux offers a simple yet essential reflection: despite the diversity of places, cultures, and traditions, certain experiences remain deeply universal.
