Dea films her father’s return to his birthplace in Kosovo after many years of exile. Together, they explore their family roots and the country’s history. A film between fiction and documentary.

In search of truth, Dea documents her father Asllan’s return to his birthplace after sixty years of exile. As she accompanies him, she brings his childhood memories to life, evoking Kosovo in the 1950s, before the war and before exile. In doing so, she delves into the history of a country she has never known. The Beauty of the Donkey is a hybrid documentary, moving between reality and fiction, and offers a sensitive meditation on memory, its fragility and its oral transmission.
