Dance by Collectif Foulles

Welcome to *The Soft Brain of Existence*: a comfortable yet slightly unsettling place. A landscape of pink mattresses where five dancers move as a single body—sliding, falling, getting back up, tangling together—as if one thought led to another.
Here, everything resembles what goes on inside your head when you’re trying to calm down: a song playing on repeat, the urge to yawn, a memory from adolescence, a fear that surfaces without warning, a YouTube tutorial that reappears as if by magic. Through music, images, and movement, the Foulles collective transforms the skull into a playground and our thoughts into choreography.

Collectif Foulles is the coming together of five friends—dancers who play on the homonyms of their names, the figure of the fool, and a wealth of energy and artistic practices. Their work is a jumble—with no hierarchy—of their most diverse passions: pop music, slapstick comedy, the Middle Ages, but also fire sticks, sewing, opera, streetwear, breakdancing, unusual hairstyles, and objects that are either miniature or disproportionately large. To date, the collective has created four plays: Song for four people and one bench (2019), A prayer before the crack of dawn (2020), Medieval Crack (2022), and Le cerveau mou de l’existence (2024). The latter is a finalist for the Premio and premiered at the Belluard Festival in collaboration with historian Clovis Maillet.
