Les Athénéennes Festival
From 4 to 14 June, Les Athénéennes music festival will feature 11 evenings of classical concerts, jazz, rock and DJ sets.
This year's 14th edition of Les Athénéennes explores the theme of Eros and Thanatos, the drive for life and the drive for death, two fundamental forces that run through all artistic creation, and music in particular. Eleven evenings of concerts spanning all musical styles and artistic demands, from the international to the Swiss scene. Lute player Thomas Dunford opens the festival with a daring tribute to Vivaldi and the Beatles. The Ensemble Sequenza 9.3 choir will echo the mystical interiority of Taverner and Pärt, while pianist Jean-Marc Luisada will revisit Liszt, Haydn and Chopin. Late evenings will be filled with jazz and contemporary music, featuring some of the leading figures on the Swiss scene. The concerts take place mainly at Alhambra, with a few exceptions at the Temple de la Madeleine. And as always, the nights will continue at Chez Jean-Luc, to celebrate music.
