BLACK & WHITE SUMMER DUO SHOW - LAST DAYS

Flyer de l'expo

Carine Biley is delighted to announce a black and white duo show unveiling « Rhizomes », latest works by congolese romanian artist Maliza Kiasuwa and last editions of « Vela », by South African photographer Gavin Goodman in the gallery in Geneva.

“Rhizomes” is a series of sculptures inspired by organic forms and the networks of living things. The ropes evoke roots—invisible bonds that connect beings. Drawing on the concept of the rhizome developed by Gilles Deleuze, these works explore multiplicity, connection, and transformation. Here, nature becomes a metaphor for human complexity. The weaving here is not a collection of threads but a network of relationships between the threads. Everything holds together with a certain fragility.

“Vela, meaning “to appear” or “to emerge” in Xhosa and Zulu, speaks to the heart of this series. These works reflect the surfacing of beauty from tradition and the unfolding of form into a contemporary space. They don’t replicate African heritage, but rather appear as something new — interpreted through minimalist restraint and personal vision. Each hand-painted piece is a quiet unveiling, drawn from traditional garments and reimagined through a modern lens.” Gavin Goodman
