MARC PERRENOUD / CHRISTOPH IRNIGER Modern DUO

Blending familiar standards with original compositions, Marc Perrenoud and Christoph Irniger draw new lines through jazz, with elegance, freedom and improvisation. A duo inspired by Lennie Tristano.

Je vois les deux musiciens

Marc Perrenoud (piano)
Christoph Irniger (saxophone)
The elegant duo formed by Geneva-based pianist Marc Perrenoud (Elina Duni, Grégoire Maret, David Enhco, OSR) and Zurich-based saxophonist Christoph Irniger (Dave Douglas, Nasheet Waits) is driven by the spirit and approach of legendary pianist Lennie Tristano.Drawing on familiar standards and traditional melodies, they create their own compositions: a way of bringing something new out of existing material, as with Dry Sensation, based on Charlie Parker’s Confirmation, or Déjà Vu, inspired by Bill Evans’ Time Remembered. Throughout the programme, drawn from their recent album New Lines, the duo explores the endless possibilities of musical interplay with genuine joy, remarkable subtlety and freedom.
