Performance by sound artists and independent curators freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee, following a listening residency with the MEG sound archives.Friday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m., in the Foyer (Level -1).

The MEG, at the initiative of Konnekt, is pleased to host sound artists and independent curators Chiara Lee and freddie Murphy, based in Turin (Italy), for a residency. Their work explores the ways in which sound shapes our perceptions, memories, and emotions, establishing connections between listening and remembrance.
During their residency, the artists have conducted research on voices, rhythms, and textures drawn from recordings of diverse origins, with a particular focus on vocal expressions of mourning and lamentation.
This work will culminate in a public presentation on Friday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the MEG Foyer.
Under the name Father Murphy, the duo has performed on major international stages, including the Venice Biennale, Dark Mofo Festival (Australia), and Le Guess Who? Festival (Netherlands). Their compositions have accompanied films shown at festivals such as Locarno, Karlovy Vary, and MoMA – New Directors/New Films (USA).
As curators, they have collaborated with institutions such as the MADRE Museum (Naples), Fondazione Merz (Turin), and since 2022, they have curated the musical and performance programme of the Museum of Asian Art (MAO) in Turin.
Their recent sound installations have been presented at the GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna (Turin), the NOASS Center (Riga), and the Kentway Museum (United Kingdom).
This residency is part of the ongoing “Sound Archives and Creation” project initiated a few years ago at the MEG.
