For over 25 years, Bogotá’s visionary producer Eblis Álvarez has been reinventing Colombia’s musical heritage. With Meridian Brothers, founded in 1998, he deconstructs Andean, Latin and Afro-Caribbean folk traditions into unbridled psychedelic cumbia. In his album Mi Latinoamérica Sufre (Ansonia & Bongo Joe), he explores electric guitar through a tropical lens, paying homage to Congolese rumba, Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeat. The result? A kaleidoscopic fusion of cumbia, champeta, soukous and psychedelic rock – an exhilarating sonic adventure like no other!
