Museum night : Dance performance: can you recognise the sound?
Performance by Loubna. Temporary exhibition. From 7.30pm to 7.50pm, 8.30pm to 8.50pm, 9.30pm to 9.50pm and 10.30pm to 10.50pm.
Once upon a time...Museum Night! This year the focus is on tales and legends. A night full of events awaits you at the MEG!
From the gnawa music of my childhood celebrations to the discovery of the percussive rhythm of the amapiano, my body has always been able to recognise these sounds that are rooted in the unique spirit of this liberating sound. These voices that heal, these words that claim, these instruments with cathartic virtues. From the expression on our faces to the curvature of our bodies as the *beat drops*, everything is a metaphor for this perpetual journey from the outside inwards, back towards the other, towards the world. We don't dance simply because we want to, we dance because we are guided by the living memory of this music, which crosses borders, cultures and realities, but always with the same obsession: to dance to the rhythm of the sound. To bear witness to what we know, to transmit what we desire, to recount what we experience. Everything that words and books struggle to contain! Oral tradition, attentive listening, mysterious yet clear transmission. Everyone finds their own sound. Let me tell you about mine, more commonly known as ‘The Big Sound’!
