During the renovation period of the MAMCO Genève building, the circulation of the collection and artistic projects enables the development of a series of off-site interventions conceived as spaces of dialogue with cultural venues across Geneva and Switzerland, strengthening existing synergies. This programme also seeks to redraw the boundaries of the cultural scene with which the museum is traditionally engaged, opening it up to literature and contemporary forms of poetry.

In this context, the Bains des Pâquis welcome MAMCO to present Dial-A-Poem Switzerland, a project inspired by the work initiated by John Giorno in 1968 and organised in collaboration with Giorno Poetry Systems (GPS). Conceived as a poetic broadcasting device accessible to the public, it invites listeners to experience poetry by telephone, extending the experimental and participatory spirit imagined by the artist.

In 2020, the Bains des Pâquis, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and MAMCO had already taken part in John Giorno Poetry Day, initiated by the Centre Pompidou, by presenting Giorno Geneva, a day celebrating experimental poetry in tribute to the artist. On that occasion, performances by Christian Schultz, Diane Rivoire and Regina Joye were presented as part of the Bains’ poetic apéritifs. This new presentation continues that collaboration around Giorno’s work.

MAMCO and the Bains des Pâquis are pleased to invite you to the opening of Dial-A-Poem Switzerland on 28 March at 5 pm, during a festive evening featuring a selection of live readings performed by participating artists: Davide-Christelle Sanvee (FR), Asa Hendry (RO), Fatima Moumouni (DE), Marko Miladinovitch (IT), Thomas Hirschhorn (DE), Henri-Michel Yéré (FR).
