Quatuor Zaïde
The Zaïde Quartet explores Schubert's contrasts between the grace of life and the shadow of death.
With Franz, the Zaïde Quartet pays tribute to Schubert with three major works revealing all the emotional complexity of the Romantic composer. At the heart of the program is the famous Death and the Maiden quartet, in which the desire to live and abandonment to death are intertwined in an overwhelming tension.
Then there's Le Roi des Aulnes, imbued with a gentle, insidious menace, and Quartet no. 13 Rosemonde, a calmer but equally inhabited work. This work, one of the few to have been performed during the composer's lifetime, reveals Schubert at the peak of his musical sensibility.
The Quatuor Zaïde, renowned for the finesse and intensity of its interpretations, offers here a suspended moment, on the borderline between dream, pain... and beauty.
