On Monday 31 August 2026, the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) will open its doors to the public for a special French-speaking afternoon event, free, and open to everyone, with no scientific background required.

As part of the 25th edition of Europe's largest conference on life science data, discover how bioinformatics and artificial intelligence are helping us better understand, treat and protect living systems. An event of the #GenevaLovesData initiative.

Leading Geneva-based scientists will explore four topics with direct relevance to society: precision oncology (Prof Olivier Michielin, SIB, UNIGE & HUG), epidemic surveillance and food safety, the environment and biodiversity (Prof Pascal Peduzzi, UNIGE), and the ethics of data sharing (Prof Samia Hurst-Majno, UNIGE).

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on data sovereignty, responsible AI and international cooperation, featuring Geneva State Councillor Delphine Bachmann alongside other institutional representatives.

Following the panel discussion, attendees of the public forum are warmly invited to join the ECCB 2026 Welcome Reception. This informal gathering offers an opportunity to meet the speakers, continue the discussions and take part in the interactive activities that may have been missed during the afternoon break.
