Theater :"Thousands of Sankaras"
By the Collectif Puck
As part of the Plan-les-Ouates Cultural Season 2025-2026.
2014. Geneva. Aminata has just lost her mother, and with her, the only link that united her to her homeland, Burkina Faso. Plagued by a past she knows nothing about, the young woman decides to go there to understand why her mother fled the country twenty-seven years earlier, at the time of the assassination of President Thomas Sankara. There, she finds herself thrust into a popular uprising that will shift the nation toward a new horizon, one of hope and uncertainty. Aminata must come to terms with the dark sides of her own history to defend her place and her dignity.
Conceived by the Puck Collective, this drama is based on historical facts and testimonies collected in Burkina Faso and Switzerland. Thomas Sankara, often compared to Che Guevara for his revolutionary vision, remains an emblematic figure in the struggle for human dignity. His legacy still resonates today, challenging us to consider the world we want to build for future generations.
