The Bibliothèque de Carouge invites you to a reading of some prose by Robert Walser by Philippe Lüscher, on Thursday, November 26, 2026 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

These twenty-five short prose pieces, written between 1899 and 1920, constitute this unique collection, revealing Robert Walser's meticulous observation of his fellow human beings and everyday life, during encounters and solitary walks in towns and the countryside.
These narratives are imbued with a profound poetry that reveals the depths of what is usually seen only on the surface. With Walser, "the countryside becomes a song, and that song was breathtakingly beautiful," wrote Stefan Zweig about one of Robert Walser's prose pieces.
He was considered by Franz Kafka, Elfriede Jelinek, Walter Benjamin, Hermann Hesse, and others to be one of the most important writers of the 20th century.
He died during a solitary walk in the snow on Christmas Day 1956, almost forgotten by everyone.
