A heritage unique in the world

Two to three exhibitions a year present rare and precious documents.

The Bibliothèque de Genève (BGE) preserves, restores, exhibits and develops a heritage that is unique in the world. Its mission is to ensure the preservation and transmission of knowledge across time - from the earliest to the most recent documents, from papyrus to digital. Mentioned for the first time in 1561, the Bibliothèque de Genève is one of the most ancient Swiss patrimonial and encyclopaedic libraries.
