Visiting Geneva During the G7 Summit: Practical Information for Visitors

The G7 Summit will take place in Évian-les-Bains, France, from 15 to 17 June 2026. Although the event is being held in France, temporary disruptions are expected in Geneva and the surrounding region before, during and shortly after the summit.

To make the most of your stay, we recommend allowing extra travel time, checking official information before travelling, and staying informed about any temporary service changes.

Getting Around Geneva

Temporary traffic disruptions may affect access to Geneva Airport, the city centre, major roads and border crossings.

If you are arriving in or departing from Geneva during this period, we recommend that you:

  • Check your flight status directly with your airline;
  • Allow extra time to reach the airport or railway station;
  • Use public transport whenever possible; Geneva Public Transport (TPG) will operate on the holiday timetable from Monday 15 June through Wednesday 17 June inclusive.
  • Consult official information before travelling.

Demonstrations and Public Gatherings

Demonstration on 14 June

A demonstration related to the G7 Summit has been authorised in Geneva on 14 June 2026.

The march is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm from Parc Mon Repos and will follow a route along the right bank, including Quai du Mont-Blanc, Rue du Mont-Blanc, Rue de la Servette, Avenue Giuseppe-Motta and Place des Nations.

Temporary traffic disruptions and public transport delays may occur along the route. Visitors are advised to avoid the demonstration area, allow extra travel time and follow instructions from local authorities.

More generally, visitors are encouraged to avoid gathering areas, follow local guidance and check official information before travelling. 

Guided Tours Cancelled from 13 to 17 June

Due to security measures related to the G7 Summit, all public and private guided tours organised by Geneva Tourism are cancelled and unavailable for booking from 13 to 17 June 2026 inclusive.

If you were planning to discover Geneva with a guide during this period, we encourage you to explore alternative activities or consider rescheduling your visit.

Museums, Attractions, Restaurants and Leisure Activities

Many cultural venues, attractions, restaurants and shops will remain accessible during the G7 period. However, some establishments may adjust their opening hours, access conditions or visitor services.

Before travelling, we strongly recommend checking the official website of the venue you plan to visit, particularly for:

• Museums and cultural institutions;
• Sightseeing tours and leisure activities;
• Restaurants, cafés and bars;
• and boutiques;
• Lake cruises and pre-booked experiences.

If you already have a reservation, please review your booking confirmation or contact the provider directly. 
The Bastions Park will be closed to the public from 12 to 18 June 2026 inclusive.

Rue du Rhône and Surrounding Shopping Area

Several boutiques located on Rue du Rhône and neighbouring streets will be closed from 13 to 17 June 2026.

Protective barriers and security installations will be put in place on the afternoon of 12 June and removed on the morning of 18 June. As a result, some shopping streets may look different than usual during this period.

Some city-centre shops and food retailers will remain open. We recommend checking opening hours directly with individual businesses before visiting.
