Francis Poulenc

Francis Poulenc’s opera is one of the cornerstones of the 20th-century French lyric repertoire. This opera tells the story of a religious community caught up in the upheaval of the French Revolution. Through its portrayal of life in this community of women, the work speaks to us believers and non-believers alike and explores our fears and need for redemption in the face of a reality beyond us. A great and beautiful challenge awaits our students, who will take on the solo roles under the musical direction of our professor Emmanuel Olivier, in a staging inspired by Yves Coudray.
