Louis Cattelat has us in stitches… right up to the stars

Sending a message to aliens is possible: all it takes is an entire scientific programme, giant antennas and a touch of collective daring. But telling your hairdresser you don’t like your haircut remains a far more complex challenge…
With Arecibo, Louis Cattelat transforms the stage into a space for listening and self-mockery, somewhere between cosmic poetry and earthly questions. His show takes its name from the Arecibo Observatory, the immense Puerto Rican radio telescope that became famous in 1974 for sending the first coded message to potential extraterrestrial civilisations. Inspired by this attempt at interstellar communication, he invites us to dream together, to listen out for mysterious waves and to explore, with humour—sometimes dark—and sensitivity, what connects us on Earth and perhaps far beyond.
His humour, which is both irreverent and metaphorical, is rooted in a genuine passion for words and linguistics. With deadpan humour, he wields imagery and double meanings with a precision that makes his jokes as funny as they are thought-provoking. Louis Cattelat also talks about his homosexuality in a way few comedians dare to: head-on, with disarming sincerity and a boldness that is as unsettling as it is funny.
On 12 December 2026 at Uptown Geneva, Louis Cattelat invites us to a unique, direct and sensitive experience: a show to listen to, watch and share.
